It was an honor to be invited and I pray that it raises an enormous amount of money for the peopple of Haiti. They, among others, are so desperately in need of our help.
Computer issues and new updates!
You would think that it would be easy to replace a broken electric cable to your computer, but after having been misunderstood, transferred, hung up on and otherwise, I was finally advised to go to On Off and of course, my most helpful Kim, from On Off fixed it in no time flat. TWO weeks went by!!! These kinds of things make me crazy, but I will not waste my energy on them, but rather will move on to what has happened duriing this time.
Torgny Melins - Had you asked me a year ago to LAST group I could imagine doing a duet with was Torgny Melins, but after a fall full of growth mostly from my part, they grew in my eyes more and more and when they so graciously invited me to be a part of their new album, there was no doubt in my mind that I was flattered and thrilled with the offer and would accept. As soon as we ended our vacation, I jumped in my car to Mellerud and we recorded Fem Minuter I Himmelen. I don't love singing in swedish even if I do so sometimes. I simply do not think that I am good at it...and I am really not, but the wonderfully humble guys in TM seemed ok with what I contributed, so I hope that the general public will not be disappointed either. I sing in swedish and go out of my comfort zone in order to grow within myself and show respect to the people and land I have grown to love, but never because I think I am good at it. I still hope you like it anyway.
Debatt - They called me last wednesday out of the blue. They asked what I thought about being a woman in the music business. I said what I thought. The next day, I was on a train to G-borg and after a hilarious moment in makeup with my gorgeous, persian makeup artist, we were hurried to our seats and the cameras rolled. It was a calm and proper debate until it came to the wolf debate that also shared our 45 minutes. That was the only time I got scared. People for and against wolves are the most passionate swedish people I have encountered. I just quietly feared for my life and kept my trap shut...;-)
The next day I was flown...ZOOOM to S-vall where we played at the Casino there. It was going swimmingly until a guy collapsed on to the floor (during the same song, mind you) as what happened at Yesterday in Vallentuna. I am pleased to say that both men are alive and kicking today, but DAMN, how scary!!!! The cold has it's effect!
Saturday night was at Stora Björn in Borlänge. I have always loved Borlänge and I don't think that I ever had as much fun there as I did last saturday! So many people and such good dancers!!
We jumped in for Shake in Karlstad...God knows that they have jumped in for us and we had a blast there as well. I noticed that I was a little more tired that night. You would be surprised at how much physical energy goes in to gigging. I am out of shape in tons of ways.
Anyway, I traveled all night, got home, met the people who get rid of mice, shopped at Rinkeby, ran other errands and tomorrow morning I am off to Västerås to be a part of www.viallakangöranåt.se . Åsa has written a song that anyone who is anyone is a part of in order to raise money for the people of Haiti. My prayer is that everything goes well and that the work is blessed and that everyone is in it for the right reasons...to use our God-given talents to make a dent in this sometimes cruel world. I can hardly wait to get there tomorrow!!!
The girl just can't keep her dress on!
A day of recording in G-borg
By the time I got to Lidköping, I had a mini breakdown at Lillen's mom's house. She must have thought I was insane, but I was cold (and apparently premenstrual, as the horrible day would bring to my attention the second I left the recording studio) and could not get warm again.
The recording session was the high point of the day. It went effortlessly and everyone seemed pleased with what I contributed, which made me happy.
On the way back, I pulled over the car and put in another bottle of antifreeze, filled up the tank with gas and I man kind of hung out and started talking to me. He apparently recognised me from the band and as it turns out, was a former colleague of the band I work with. Small world! So I promised to say Hi to the guys and after learning how to get around G-borg the hard way, I am nicely settled in to my VERRRY La Ti Dah - Hotel here in the center of all of the hullabaloo, which I am COMPLETELY uninterested in right now.
Before my 3 hour scenic tour of G-borg, I recognised a town that I have played in and I knew Lillen was at the same gig tonight, so I stopped by to say Hello, but decided to leave just before his gig began.
Guess I'll get some shut eye now!
Back in business with Zlips
We picked up where we left off with our individual updates: Lars is fixing our bus and that's why we have a loaner bus right now. Patrick's mother died during the fall as did Togge's father. Me, well, everybody knows what's been going on with me.
The plan was to get here early so we could go through some songs that we might have forgotten during the fall, but we were offered a lovely salad with whole wheat pasta (just the way I like it) and warm hugs and smiles and the timing is just disappearing. Sannex will be here shortly, so we need to get our behinds in gear!
I hope there is a little voice deep inside somewhere. I would hate to disappoint people tonight.
Feels good to be back on the road!
